The Sex Industry

Phone sex is considered the marijuana of the adult entertainment industry. Wait. Perhaps I should define “adult entertainment”. I prefer that term as opposed to “porn”. Adult entertainment is a polite way to refer to legally sanctioned “porn” or sex businesses. Unfortunately everyone has a different definition for whatever name you want to give the sex industry. Ah! Sex industry. Let’s go with that phrase.

The “sex industry” is a double-sided coin. On one side is “adult entertainment” which are the legally sanctioned businesses and on the other side of that same coin are the untouchables, individuals and so-called businesses that are illegal such as prostitution including child rape, snuff and sex slavery.

The adult entertainment industry does not dabble in illicit transactions as indicated above. Legal sex industry businesses are divided into two categories: tangible and intangible. Tangible businesses existed before the internet. They include sex magazines, movies, sex toys and both strip or gentlemen’s clubs. Intangible businesses for the most part include legal adult entertainment companies that are on the internet. Basically sex companies where you watch movies or live sex shows on the web via a subscription.

All sex companies and workers are part of the sex industry. Not all sex companies/workers are legal. All legal sex companies/workers are part of the adult entertainment industry.

Got it? I hope so.
