For years I would toggle back and forth between Jay Leno and David Letterman. I simply could not decide who to watch. The compromise was to watch Leno’s standup (which was always better) and giggle at Letterman’s top 10. Now that Leno is no longer in the same timeslot that can be no doubt that Letterman is the king of late night television. While tall Irish men are always a plus, I simply do not get Conan. I tried for two weeks and while giving Conan a chance missed the Letterman joke about …you know.
Last night satisfied with my decision I tuned in to Letterman and watched as he apologized (again) about the “joke”. Cool. The interesting thing about this story (which I hope is over) is what happened the following morning. One of the top five stories on each of the major networks was Palin’s response. It is not what she said but the fact that there was a prepared response in time for the news cycle on the East Coast. Anyone inside the beltway should understand my meaning.
