Late last night I received a call from a new client. He wanted to do a phone sex call and then refused to give his name. Strange, huh? See he had a gift card. Tell me something, when you go to the store to buy groceries or whatever do you keep your hand over the name of your card so the cashier can not see your name? Whenever you make a purchase online or over the telephone, make sure you know how it is going to be billed to your credit card or checking account. Expect to be asked for your name, billing address, the card or account number and in the case of a credit card the CVV2 code (the three digits on the back). Visa and Mastercard passed new rules after 9/11 (to make certain no one is laundering money to the terrorists) that require ALL processors to request one other vital piece of information. Those are the rules. I didn’t make them, just as in the case of PayPal, whether I agree or not, I respect the rules handed down to me by the entity undertaking most of the risk.
Yeah I’m a bad ass in the bedroom yet when it comes to following the law, signing contracts that track back to my social security number, I am as vanilla as vanilla can be.
