I knew I had to vote today but it completely slipped my mind that I, card-carrying member of the Republican party, get to cast my vote for the Democratic nominee. I don't remember doing this four years ago. I remember voting for McCain. So I must have skipped over all the Democratic names. Oh, well, my mistake. But not this time, baby! I must have spent what seemed like a lifetime agonizing over my choice. Not! Bush for the Republican ticket. And Edwards for the Democratic ticket although Al sweetie you were a close second.
A few months ago a friend of mine who works as a press secretary for a Democratic congressman asked me if I was voting for Bush in November. I told him, "Hell yeah!" He asked why and I gave him an earful. Bottom line there is no other alternative. Oh I can give you in chronological order all of Bush's mistakes. Hell, I can give them to you in alphabetical order, by country, by state…color-coded and by the phases of the moon. But in this two party system the Democrats have not provided a valid alternative.
Democrats are looking to nominate someone who can "beat Bush". And if you pardon me for saying so they are looking at it all wrong. The Democrats have their people and the Republicans have theirs. It's a dead heat just like in 2000. I think it is safe to say that no sane Democrat is going to vote for Bush. So the question becomes which Republicans can they 'steal'? Kerry makes the question moot, but Edwards puts the question in play. Think about it.
Hmmm… all this talk about politics makes me horny. Oh my cat smells like his old self again. Actually he smells like my lingerie closet which means he's been rolling around in there.
